A contest and a giveaway

by Cathalee on February 3, 2010

Did you watch One Tree Hill on Monday? No? I should probablystop watching this show, but it’s a guilty pleasure. Besides, I’ve been watching it since grad school. Anyway, they had an 80’s dance at the high school and now I’ve been on this 80’s music kick. I have the oddest range of music on my iTunes, but the consistent genre (can I call it a genre?) is definitely the 80’s.

I grew up in the 90’s so I don’t know why I enjoy the 80’s so much. I think it has a lot to do with John Hughes movies to be perfectly honest with you. Which was the theme of Monday’s episode of OTH by the way. So, as I was making myself a mix CD of 80’s music, I thought it would be fun to have a contest on this blog. A “guess the name of this 80’s song” contest.

To be perfectly honest with you, I’m not really sure how much of a response I’ll get since I only have  three readers and this is counting my sister. As for the other two readers – don’t worry there’s no nepotism on this blog.

Rules:

There are 10 songs on the video. They’re about 4 to 5 second clips. You didn’t think this would be easy, did you?

In the comments section, list out the names of the songs in the order that you hear them. You can include the names of the artist if you want, but it won’t count against you if you don’t.

One entry per person. The first person to name all of the songs correctly will win a $20 gift certificate at Amazon.com. Sorry – I’m not rich like Ree Drummond so I can’t give away $300 gift certificates like she does.

All entries will be hidden (so that you can’t see someone elses’ answers) until the end of the contest which is 12AM Pacific Friday morning. I will then name the winner Friday night. I will email you the gift certificate so make sure to include a REAL email address.

I understand that not everyone is crazy about 80’s music like I am, so if no one gets all 10 correct – the person with the most correct answers will win. So, even if you don’t know all of these songs, enter anyway. You just might be the winner!
